Here's some examples of the FTC "net-working" in our Google Community:

RESPONSIVENESS TO CALLS FOR HELP

A team posted a plea for help with programming via a quick hangout while they were going to be in their robotics class the next morning.  Other teams quickly chimed in to help.  When posts are made - sometimes the response is immediate help, other times the two groups agree on a mutual time to hash through an issue.

RELEVENT TOPICS ADDRESSED QUICKLY

When we get an email for a hangout topic, we schedule one for the following week - giving teams just enough time to check their schedules and participate.  When we hear that teams have conflicts with times and dates, we arrange to have an additional session at an alternate time.

OUTLET FOR VENTING

Starting out this season with new electronics added a layer of  uncertainty for teams.   We've heard issues with everything from plugging components in correctly to downloading, to troubleshooting for defective parts.  Most issues are just from our collective lack of experience.   With hangouts we're able to share thoughts and make everyone feel like they aren't alone.    Team members and coaches being able to speak their minds, share their stories and ask the questions that they may not ask anyone else is therapy for all of us.   Sometimes we just need to vent and move on without having it live on in writing for eternity.
